Took this from the BBC News article on Appraisals for Doctors. How depressing. Most of the Doctors I work with have been having an appraisal for years and all of them accept it's good practice. I'm actually working with some of my clients at the moment on preparation for appraisal. They are seizing the opportunity for reflection and review. Shame this is specifically positioned as 'catching' the very few Doctors who are in difficulty and need some support. Appraisal couched like this means that Doctors are walking into a powerful developmental opportunity feeling defensive rather than empowered.
